I picked this up from the neighbor for $300, it was sitting for a while. I put in about $75 in parts-new battery, cleaned the heck of out of it, air filter, fuel filter, fuel shut off, greased/lubricated it and then sold it for $1,000

Free toro mower from the neighbor

The neighbor asked if I'm interested in mower that was sitting for a while. Of course I wanted it. Overall it wasn't bad to bring back to life. It needed a good pressure washing, carb cleaning, oil change, cleaned the spark plug, new air filter and some adjustments.

Rei Co-Op bike with Vee City Cruz tires…dry rotted in 3 months
Просмотров 9972 месяца назад
I picked this bike up about 3 months ago from REI, new off the showroom floor. The only thing I didn't like was the tire brand since I never heard of them and I was right. They are dry rotted after 3 months of use. I'm assuming they were old stock but anyways I've owned the bike for 3 months so this is unacceptable.

Just heat the flywheel and they will pop off. I'm still confused about magnet orientation. I'm working with one that has white stripes on magnets. Does that mean North just like yours with the green dot. So I'm guessing we should put them with the dot or white mark up, every other one
I figured this out. The magnets with the white marks have a certain polarity and the ones unmarked have another. Use a super magnet and place it in front of your magnet, it will either attract or repel. They stagger them around the flywheel. That's why there is always an even number of magnets. You know in chem and physics they teach that a magnet across an iron field produces a current, but they don't teach how it really needs to be set up on a flywheel. I would of never got this without some little advice.
It's not worth
The correct short spark plug is still available. Champion 843ECO. The grounding switch now easily works.
This solved my issue! Thanks for the knowledge!
@@Ahch. Glad I could help and thanks for the tip
Thanks!
If you adjust the psi, does that mean the GPM will got down too?
The best way to adjust your GPM flow is with your tip orifice size. That's why professional detailers use a 5.0+ orifice tip on their electric pressure washers, they're trying to dry the PSI and increase the GPM flow...... It depends on how you adjust it, ie unloader or switch orifice size of your tip.
Hey James, How has the Canpump performed?
They worked great, I don't have any of those units anymore, but I ran them for 5-10 hours before selling them and didn't have any issues.
I like them
What was the reason you replaced the seals? I have one allowing water to get in the engine oil and was thinking these seals might be the reason.
Water was leaking between the pump head and body. When I took off the head I could seal the seals were damaged. On the pump you'll have high pressure water seals and oil pump seals. Usually if I have a pump with contaminated oil I'll change the pump oil/flush it first...then run it for a while to see if the seals were leaking or if the oil just got contaminated.
Thanks helped a lot
Glad it helped
Fantastic vid!! I got one in where somebody took the pump apart and handed me a box of parts. Thanks to you it’s now pumping 🍺
Thanks glad the video helped
Hello, do you know if you can remove the attachment sliders to use with other non-Mercedes roof racks?
I don’t know, I didn’t have a roof rack when I picked this up so I was not able to try.
Red cap needs removed and air plug needs to go in there
I will be doing the same on a clone Rato 196cc 6.5 hp , hope the carb will be the right one from waldo , 18 uscy.
Great video! I appreciate the detailed walk through! I got mine back together nicely (2 weeks in between taking apart and getting time to put parts in). Only problem i have now is water is not flowing though the pump normally. It’s like there’s a blockage and I have 1/2 the flow rate I should. Checked the overload, pump cycles good, all looks great. I removed the hose/gun and water dribbles out when the garden hose is on full. Can’t figure it out.
Maybe check the water inlet filter or the water supply? I’ve had issues with those before…I’ve even had ones that the water filter was so plugged no water was going into the pump
Do you happen to know the part number for the carburetor?
I don't know it. I usually look up part numbers buy going to parts tree and then using the model/type/code. I belive this carb is discontinued. I remember purchasing a rebuild kit but I think if it's too far gone you might have to get an aftermarket.
Block looks cracked no? 😳
I very well could be wrong but i think you put the three retainers in backwards. I just did mine and the basket end goes in first and the lip of the retainer basket rests in the lip on the body. requires not tools, just finger fit. Ya I know its been 3 yrs but hey.
Honestly I'm not sure...it's been too long but I'm a lot better at rebuilding pumps now...If I was going to do it again I'd have a parts diagram page printed so I make sure to install everything correctly.
Just a quick tip. Heat the pick up and it will just slip right through the rubber seal. The rest is still hard. LOL
That's a good idea, thanks for the tip.
what year is it? i wanted buy this in houston but its 399.99
This is from last week at costco.
@@jamesbubnick wow so much cheaper
Whats noco case model?
This is the one I bought form Amazon...NOCO GC040 Universal EVA Protection Case for GENIUS1, GENIUS2, GENIUS5, and GENIUS10 Smart Battery Chargers
6:29 Nothing positive about this review?. Affordable, switchable battery for extended range ? breaks can be adjusted, foldable , compact size. Its an entry level ebike , Heavy ? Graat for upper body strength...lol The battery cells can be replaced with higher amperage cells ...it all depends on what you want from an ebike ... something positive here...im going to buy one just to find joy with everything that you find negative.Cheers!
I put a new pump without the idle down, rigged the governor spring just like in the video, and now it'll only start in choke mode and stall as soon as I move from choke to run. Any advice?
You didn’t see the woodruff key in a cavity above the shaft? All of a sudden you just a you saw a woodruff key on the ground? That spacer ring is for the key to not back off the shaft while in use.
I didn’t see the woodruff key at first. The spacer is for assembly at their plant, it prevents an mis alignment of the pump to shaft from knocking out the key. Once installed the key isn’t going anywhere and the spacer is not necessary.
How's it working for you?
I sold it….i only bought it to flip since it was cheap. My impression was the machine was incredible well built and because of that very very very heavy.
Working on a Troy built xp 3100 with an AR pump on it and Honda motor. Thanks for posting this!
Lousy unit. Fully charged battery and it cuts off every 3 to 4 minutes.
The LLC's that rent the brand names select the latest Chinese generators to slap their brand's names on.
Is there any way you can specify more which hose goes where cuz I've got one of those and I'm changing the fuel line and the carburetor once you get once I get it and I'd like to know which hose goes where
Thanks man, I thought I was gunna have to do it that way. Never can be a 5 min belt change. Thanks for the video. 👍
@@onebaddj glad the video was helpful. After a few they get easier…but I know why just about every used units I get have worn transmission belts….
How do i remove the sight glass for that damn thing??
@@JackAnderson-ej3vv Im not sure as I never took one off on a AAA pump before. I’ve taken the back plate off and that is just held on by 4 fasteners. You might want to pull up the parts diagram for the pump and that should help. AAA pumps are made by Simpson and the parts diagrams aren’t too hard to find.
Next time so u know the choke lever the gray one comes off and has a fuel line plug built on it
I need part number on the bigger belt !!
If your Scag still has the metal tag by the transmission it will tell you the model/serial and you can download the manual and find the part number on Scag’s website. I don’t know the part number off the top of my head.
What is that little key called?! that is the piece im missing. Anyone please and thank you!
It’s called a flywheel key. I’m Not sure if that one is imperial or metric but ace/tru value hardware usually carry them in the nuts and bolts section. You have to buy the correct right fitting one…if you don’t the flywheel will sheer it right off. If you can’t find it locally I like to order parts from Parts Tree
First, thank you for your time. However, your video would be enormously more helpful if you were in frame. I know you believe most people know what they’re doing, but we don’t, or we wouldn’t be searching for RUclips videos on HOW TO repair a pressure washer pump.
Was it that easy? Or did you end up having other problems
I hate this brand, it is the only brand Costco carry nowadays. It has problem starting the very first time. Connection checked good. Supply water on, checked good, purge the wand, engine turn on, fuel line turn on, and choker position. Still won’t start. Customer service open on week days only. Smh
I think it's not uncommon to have a broken pressure washer a week before moving lol. Happened to me too.
I have the 60v model and it does awesome in my yard so I have no doubt the 80v is even better
Have the same tractor, works good but now needs new drive belt.
On this model it’s easier to change then the new ones. Plus tractor supply usually has the belt in stock.
From what I've seen from people on Reddits Ebike forums, Vee tires seem to have lots of issues with cracking, even when new. I'd recommend getting different tires from another company rather than asking REI to replace them with the same tires again.
REI ended up replacing the tires w/ Schwalbe and so far those seem a lot better. The reviews for Schwalbe are better and as of a few weeks no dry rot. What's crazy is I picked up a 5 year old Specialized that was stored on a balcony (very rusty, chain 100% not moving) for its entire life and those tires had zero dry rot on them so I'm going to say REI went with a really cheap tire that they shouldn't have. I'm pretty handy and could replace these on my own but if someone doesn't...I'm sure it would be around at least $100 to have it done at a local bike shop.
only video i found with this issue and is exactly what i needed thank you
Great video James. This was the same issue I was having with mine; and with your video I was able to fix it. It was good seeing you cover all your bases and clean out the carburetor too.
Glad it helped. I've been meaning to make an updated video going into a lot more depth about the idle down systems but I haven't been able to find one cheap. I picked up an idle down unit but it was a Troy-Bilt w/ a briggs and it seems this Ryobi w/ the Honda GCV is a lot more popular unit.
I had a piece of wood stuck in between the belt pully and the belt. Once I cleared that out it worked fine.
It's crazy how something small make a piece of equipment not run right. I think too many people automatically assume the transmission is bad when it could be quite a few other easy fixes.
I learned a lot watching your video. Thank you. My Ryobi PW is the same except the idle control assembly is bolted on (no U clip). I'm having no luck getting the cable to move freely. And the ICA is not available for this model. So I might just hook the idle control spring to a spot I found for a regular governor mechanism. It's under the bracket where spring was made to go.
No worries and I'm glad that you like the T-shirts and thanks for your help on these repairing projects.
Your scag is a prime example that good maintenance is the life blood of a machine. In 2005 I bought a used 48 hydro walk behind with about 800 hours, bought it for 1200 bucks. I used it for my mowing business 3 years with minimal issues. Sold it to a friend with the matching scag orange velke for 1500. I recently ordered a new 36 swzt hydro drive for my new house, and of course will be installing a wright velke sulky
I agree so much is down to maintenance and storage…people don’t realize how keeping equipment out under a tarp beats it up.
How do you properly store a mower?@@jamesbubnick
@@jamesbubnick how can I get one used for under a thousand bucks like that or the one with a long handle or what are your thoughts
@@IssacSmith-vy2jo I don't think you can find one that cheap or if you do I bet it would sell in 10 minutes. Around me this one would probably go for 1600 or so but it's hard to tell since most of the ones this old are really beaten up.
Is a heavy rusty on the inside of the unloader restorable? The spring was also broken. I believe the kits for my pump are obsolete. 4HP40GI
if the spring is rusty that's ok/normal but a broken spring needs to be replaced.
Thanks for this information and the quick response!
Great video. I run non-ethanol with stabilizer and never have had any issues with carburetors or spring starting issues.
That makes a huge difference...yesterday I picked up a pressure washer that wouldn't start...dropped the bowl and it was all water. By me it's difficult to find ethanol free fuel so for winter storage I'll run a bit of true fuel in everything.
What! What did I just watch? How to troubleshoot? I'm more confused than ever after watching your video!
That's cool as hell
Glad you like it.
I would totally love one of these
